Designed to take your breath, to give a new life instead of death.
In Re_Akire I care about sustainability without compromise from the beginning of production until the final product first touches your hand. Overproduction is all around us and Re_Akire is going against it. To be more precise Re_Akire’s goal is to make a loop. An infinite loop where → Old quality is gathered → Re_worked → Is ready to sparkle again. When supporting Re_Akire you also spin this loop by buying wisely knowing where products come from and who is making them. Even more, you are helping to bring a new life to those which would be forgotten. Therefore I call all my products Re_Treasures.
For every product we carefully select material from local flea markets, second hand stores or is gently sourced in nature either your trash bin. We also use dead stock¹ fabrics from Czech company. Accessories components are from closed studio which is no longer in business. Same goes for Re_claimed art material from ArtReuse. All necessary lamp components are from an Italian company. Good quality and EU based suppliers are crucial criteria, because Re_Akire does not compromise in any segment of environmental footprint free production, especially the material sourcing and supply.
All the packing material used in Re_Akire is Re_used or Re_cyclable and we purchase zero plastic. If you receive bubble wrap in a package, it’s some we received and we Re_using. As a filling of extra space in the box I use cardboard shredder which turns any old box into a usable packaging material. Paper tape is used to hold everything close and together.
¹Residues of fabric that haven’t been able to sell. Maybe there are small damages, maybe the company who purchased it ordered too much.
All Re_Akire products are designed and made in Prague, Czech Republic by artist and designer Erika Štěpánková. Clothes, accessories and fabric paintings are sewn and Re_worked in her Prague studio. She also makes stoneware lamp bases that are modeled by hand without casting or molds.
